Daily Efforts Ensure Prophet's Mosque Ready For 90,000 Ramadan Visitors

The General Authority for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques is dedicated to ensuring that the Prophet's Mosque is ready to welcome worshipers at any time, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. This commitment is part of the authority's mission to provide a serene and comfortable environment for visitors to perform their religious rituals. The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reports that approximately 90,000 worshipers gather daily on the mosque's roof, which covers an area of 67,000 square meters designated for prayers.

To manage the flow of visitors smoothly, the mosque has made available 24 staircases, including 6 escalators, strategically placed around its entrances. This infrastructure is crucial for facilitating easy access and preventing congestion, especially during the busiest times of prayer. The SPA highlights the concerted efforts of the authority's staff, alongside charitable and volunteer groups, in maintaining cleanliness and order on the mosque's roof. These teams are responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, and fumigating the area before iftar. Additionally, they lay out 5,000 prayer carpets and set up iftar banquets in designated zones where fasting worshipers can break their fast with meals and Zamzam water provided to them.

Prophet's Mosque Readies for Ramadan

The distribution of over 20,000 copies of the Mushaf (the holy Quran) and guidance offered to worshipers further exemplify the comprehensive care taken to prepare for iftar, Isha, and Tarawih prayers. The ambiance on the mosque's roof is enhanced by vibrant yellow lighting that beautifully harmonizes with the white lights of the exterior courtyards and blends with the illumination from its ten minarets. This lighting arrangement not only adds to the visual appeal but also highlights the unique architectural features of the Prophet's Mosque, including its domes that seamlessly integrate with the designated prayer areas on the roof.

The meticulous preparations undertaken by The General Authority for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques underscore its dedication to facilitating a spiritually fulfilling experience for worshipers at the Prophet's Mosque. By ensuring that all aspects of their visit are catered to, from prayer facilities to iftar arrangements, the authority plays a pivotal role in upholding the mosque's status as a revered site for Muslims worldwide.
