Custodian Of The Two Holy Mosques Date Distribution And Iftar Programs Implemented In Ethiopia

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance organised an official programme in Ethiopia marking the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ annual Ramadan gifts, which included date distribution and Iftar meals. The initiative allocated 20 tons of dates for about 80,000 beneficiaries and planned Iftar meals for nearly 30,000 people across the country.

The support programme formed part of Saudi Arabia’s wider Ramadan outreach, directed by the Kingdom’s leadership and implemented through the ministry in several countries. These efforts aimed to assist Muslim communities during fasting hours by providing food support, while also strengthening social ties and cooperation among participants and local partners involved in the distribution.

The ceremony, held under the supervision of the Religious Attaché at the Saudi Embassy in Ethiopia, included a visual presentation. The presentation reviewed the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance projects related to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ initiatives, and showed how similar programmes had been implemented in different regions around the world in previous years.

Saudi Ambassador to Ethiopia Abdullah bin Hassan Al-Zahrani attended the event and delivered a speech. Al-Zahrani explained that the date and Iftar projects were carried out in accordance with instructions from the Kingdom’s leadership. The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance oversaw planning and execution, ensuring the gifts reached Muslims during Ramadan in line with the programme’s objectives.

Al-Zahrani noted that these Ramadan gifts from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques had been implemented for the tenth consecutive year. The ambassador said the initiative aimed to support Muslims during the holy month, help meet essential needs, and encourage a sense of brotherhood that promotes unity and solidarity among Muslims in Ethiopia and beyond.

The ambassador expressed appreciation to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Al-Zahrani also commended the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance for managing the Ethiopia programmes and for continuing to implement the Custodian’s Ramadan gift initiatives in many countries.
