Cultural Memory Center Highlights Documentary Heritage At UNESCO Conference In Paris

The Saudi Cultural Memory Center, under the Ministry of Culture, took part in the international conference "Innovating Documentary Heritage for Sustainable Development in AlUla and Saudi Arabia." This event was held in Paris from April 29 to 30. Organized by UNESCO and the Kingdoms Institute Platform, it focused on promoting documentary heritage.

At the conference, the center's national pavilion highlighted Saudi Arabia's initiatives to preserve documentary heritage. It also promoted accessibility for enthusiasts and researchers. The pavilion introduced two new typefaces launched by the Ministry of Culture: Al-Awwal Typeface and Saudi Typeface.

The center stressed its ongoing commitment to preserving national documentary heritage through innovative projects. These efforts align with the UNESCO Memory of the World Programme, which aims to protect humanity’s documentary legacy for future generations.

A dedicated area within the pavilion showcased these new typefaces as vital tools for preserving Saudi cultural identity. They reflect historical and cultural significance, underscoring their importance in maintaining cultural continuity.

The center also presented its national initiative focused on cultural heritage documentation and digital archiving. This key project aims to preserve and record national memory using top international standards across various regions of Saudi Arabia.

To raise awareness about document protection, the center distributed the Cultural Heritage Documentation and Digital Archiving Guide. This guide emphasizes safeguarding documents and manuscripts as part of cultural preservation efforts.

Interactive Displays and Digital Platforms

An interactive display at the pavilion featured touchscreen access to the "Cultural Hub" website. This digital platform supports efforts to document and disseminate cultural heritage effectively.

The event provided an opportunity for participants to engage with these resources firsthand, enhancing understanding of Saudi Arabia's dedication to preserving its rich cultural history through modern means.
