Cultural Development Fund Enhances Saudi Cinema At 10th Saudi Film Festival

Riyadh, SPA – The Cultural Development Fund (CDF) recently concluded its role as a sponsor at the 10th annual Saudi Film Festival (SFF), marking its third consecutive year of support for this significant cultural event. The festival, a collaboration between the Saudi Cinema Association and the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra), supported by the Film Commission, ran from May 2nd to May 9th in Dhahran. This year's edition celebrated a decade of showcasing cinematic talent and innovation within the Kingdom.

The CDF's involvement in the festival underscores its commitment to nurturing the Saudi film sector. Through its pavilion at the Production Market Exhibition, the fund presented both financing and non-financing solutions aimed at bolstering film projects. Among these initiatives, the "Film Sector Financing Program" stands out as a key effort to provide comprehensive support across various aspects of filmmaking, from content development to infrastructure and equipment.

CDF Boosts Saudi Film Industry

During a dialogue session titled "Saudi Support Funds," Faris Alaskar represented the CDF, highlighting the fund's role in empowering industry businesses and exploring new opportunities within the rapidly evolving Saudi film industry. The session, which also featured contributions from Ithra and the Red Sea Fund, emphasized the collaborative efforts to foster a thriving cultural scene.

The festival's closing ceremony paid homage to the CDF's continuous sponsorship and its vital contribution to the growth of the film industry in Saudi Arabia. Among the films featured at this year's festival was "Ahlam Alasr," funded by CDF and created by the Godus Brothers, which competed in the "Feature Film" category, showcasing the depth of talent within the Kingdom.

Established in 2021 and linked organizationally to the National Development Fund, the CDF aims to promote a self-reliant cultural sector aligned with the National Culture Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030. By supporting various cultural activities and projects, facilitating investment, and enhancing profitability within the domestic cultural sector, the fund plays a crucial role in enriching Saudi Arabia's cultural landscape.
