5th Sharjah Award For Arabic Poetry Criticism Focuses On Cultural And Artistic Patterns

The Sharjah Award for Arabic Poetry Criticism has announced its fifth edition, focusing on "Cultural and Artistic Patterns in Contemporary Arabic Poetry." This event is under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah. Organised by the Department of Cultural Affairs in Sharjah, it invites participation from writers and critics interested in Arabic poetry.

Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Secretary General of the award, highlighted the cultural vision of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi. He noted that this vision has enhanced poetry criticism's presence in the Arab world. The award aims to create a critical library through extensive participation over its editions.

Sharjah Award for Arabic Poetry Criticism Launched

The new edition's theme offers a broad research scope on cultural and artistic patterns in contemporary Arabic poetry. This provides critics with opportunities to explore fresh critical topics. The award seeks to foster a deeper understanding of modern Arabic poetry among critics and scholars.

Efforts will be made to promote awareness of the award across universities and academic circles. The Department of Cultural Affairs plans to engage specialists in criticism throughout Arab countries. Additionally, poetry houses will host seminars to encourage widespread Arab participation.

Financial Incentives for Winners

Winners of the award receive financial rewards, with AED100,000 for first place, AED75,000 for second place, and AED50,000 for third place. These incentives aim to motivate participants and recognise their contributions to Arabic poetry criticism.

This initiative underscores the commitment to supporting Arabic poetry and fostering a vibrant critical discourse around it. By encouraging diverse perspectives, the award contributes significantly to enriching the cultural landscape in the Arab world.
