Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Inaugurates First Year Of Ninth Session Of Shura Council
His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, inaugurated the ninth session of the Shura Council's first year. This was on behalf of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Upon arrival, HRH the Crown Prince was welcomed by Deputy Governor of Riyadh Region Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz and Speaker of the Shura Council Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh.
The event began with the Royal Anthem, followed by greetings from officials. HRH the Crown Prince then moved to the sessions hall where he witnessed the oath-taking ceremony for the council’s speaker and members. Commemorative photos were taken, and a ceremony commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran.

Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Al-Sheikh, Speaker of the Shura Council, delivered a speech expressing gratitude for leadership support and highlighting Vision 2030 achievements. He noted that in the past year, the Shura Council made 493 decisions on various topics. The speaker also welcomed new council members and thanked those whose terms had ended.
On behalf of King Salman, HRH Prince Mohammed delivered the annual royal speech: "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Brothers and sisters: May peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. With Allah's help and guidance, we inaugurate the first year of the ninth session of the Shura Council on behalf of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and we ask Allah Almighty to grant us success and guide our steps."
The Crown Prince emphasized that since Vision 2030's launch, citizens have been central to its initiatives. He highlighted significant national progress in non-oil activities contributing 50% to real GDP last year. Unemployment decreased from 12.8% in 2017 to 7.6% in early 2024.
Homeownership rates rose from 47% in 2016 to over 63%. The tourism sector exceeded its target with 109 million visitors in 2023 alone. Saudi Arabia is now ranked sixteenth among competitive nations globally.
Global Confidence in Saudi Arabia
The Kingdom has gained global confidence as a premier destination for international organizations and companies. This is demonstrated by hosting Expo 2030 and FIFA World Cup 2034 bids successfully.
Saudi Arabia has established itself as a leader in renewable energy while exploring natural resources extensively. The Public Investment Fund continues to drive investment growth.
Commitment to Education and Innovation
The Crown Prince expressed pride in citizens' achievements in innovation and science fields. Education remains a priority to foster knowledge and innovation among future generations.
"We affirm that as we embark on modernization paths," he stated, "we remain steadfast in preserving our identity and values." These values are seen as a legacy from forefathers representing Saudi Arabia's distinctive image globally.
Palestinian Issue Remains Priority
The Palestinian issue remains a top priority for Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom condemns Israeli actions against Palestinians violating international laws. It seeks an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital before establishing diplomatic relations with Israel.
The Kingdom appreciates countries recognizing Palestine's statehood as steps toward international legitimacy while encouraging others to follow suit.
Regional Security Efforts
Saudi Arabia collaborates with global nations for humanity's well-being through mutual respect for independence values while resolving disputes peacefully without interference.
The Kingdom actively seeks political solutions for crises like Yemen or Sudan while supporting diplomatic efforts addressing challenges such as Russia-Ukraine conflict resolution initiatives globally too!
