Crown Prince Of Fujairah Inaugurates World Taekwondo Cadet Championships 2025 In Fujairah

The 7th World Taekwondo Cadet Championships began in Fujairah, UAE, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah. The event opened with a grand ceremony at the Zayed Sports Complex. This five-day championship highlights Fujairah's capability to host international events, reflecting the global sports community's trust in the UAE's infrastructure and organisational expertise.

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed emphasised that hosting such events strengthens Fujairah's status as an international sports hub. He acknowledged H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi's ongoing support for the sports sector, which is seen as vital for achieving excellence on the global stage. The presence of Sheikh Dr. Rashid bin Hamad Al-Sharqi and Dr. Choue Chung-won, President of the World Taekwondo Federation, added significance to the opening ceremony.

Dr Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee and President of the UAE Taekwondo Federation, highlighted that this championship involves 93 countries and 811 athletes. He expressed gratitude to World Taekwondo, the Ministry of Sports, and partners for their essential support in making this event successful. "This championship is driven by the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi," he stated.

Dr Choue Chung-won noted that this is the largest cadet championship so far, underscoring its importance for youth development among Member National Associations (MNAs). He thanked H.H. Sheikh Mohammed for his support in organising this record-setting event and his contributions to refugees globally. Dr Chung-won stressed that cadet athletes form taekwondo's foundation, with many past competitors becoming Olympic champions.

The opening ceremony included oath-taking by athletes, referees, and coaches, alongside a flag parade and cultural performances showcasing Emirati heritage. A standout moment was a performance by the World Taekwondo demonstration team. Sponsors like e& and Fujairah Investment Company were acknowledged during this event.

The championships will run until May 14 at Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah. This event not only celebrates athletic prowess but also highlights cultural exchange through its diverse participation and performances.
