Crown Prince Of Abu Dhabi Meets Norway Prime Minister To Strengthen Bilateral Ties

H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, recently met with Jonas Gahr Støre, the Prime Minister of Norway. Their discussions centred on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring ways to enhance cooperation in various sectors of mutual interest. The meeting highlighted the importance of advancing economic, trade, and investment ties between the two nations.

The talks focused on key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, advanced technology, renewable energy, air transport, and scientific research. Both leaders emphasised the need to boost collaboration in these areas to support mutual growth and development. Several agreements were signed during the meeting to formalise these commitments.

An agreement was signed between the General Civil Aviation Authorities of the UAE and Norway. This aims to improve air transport services by increasing passenger and cargo traffic. The goal is to strengthen trade and tourism links between the two countries while addressing other shared interests.

In addition to aviation agreements, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Khalifa University of Science and Technology and the Arctic University of Norway - Tromsø. This MoU focuses on academic cooperation in fields like artificial intelligence, climate action, circular economy, and renewable energy.

The MoU also aims to expand research efforts to tackle climate change challenges in regions affected by climate impacts, particularly in the Arctic and Antarctic areas. This initiative reflects both nations' commitment to addressing global environmental issues through collaborative research.

Several other agreements were announced during the meeting to enhance economic cooperation between the UAE and Norway. These agreements aim to serve mutual interests and meet the aspirations of both countries' leaderships and citizens.

Strategic Energy Partnerships

A notable agreement was a strategic cooperation pact between ADNOC and Equinor. This partnership seeks to explore opportunities in carbon capture and storage, low-carbon hydrogen production, and marketing low-carbon intensity oil and gas.

Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC (Masdar) also announced a Strategic Framework Agreement with Equinor. This agreement aims to strengthen collaboration on existing projects like the Hywind Floating Wind Farm in Scotland while exploring new ventures.

Green Energy Initiatives

Masdar signed an MoU with Yara to explore collaboration along the Power-to-Green Ammonia value chain, focusing on Green Hydrogen. Additionally, Masdar entered into an MoU with ICP Infrastructure for potential partnerships in green energy infrastructure across Europe.

A second MoU was signed with Aker Horizons Asset Development targeting joint development opportunities along the Power-to-Green Hydrogen value chain. This initiative aims at decarbonising hard-to-abate sectors through innovative solutions.

The meeting underscored both nations' commitment to fostering strong bilateral relations through strategic partnerships across various sectors. These agreements reflect a shared vision for sustainable development and economic growth that benefits both countries.
