Crown Prince Of Abu Dhabi And Kazakhstan President Attend UAE-Kazakhstan Business Forum To Boost Economic Ties

H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, visited the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) in Kazakhstan's capital, Astana. He was accompanied by Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan. During the visit, Sheikh Khaled learned about AIFC's financial services and infrastructure aimed at making Kazakhstan a key finance hub.

Sheikh Khaled met with AIFC staff to discuss its role in supporting business ecosystems and attracting investments. He emphasised the importance of knowledge exchange and partnerships between UAE and Kazakh financial institutions to boost economic growth and cooperation. This collaboration aims to benefit both nations and their citizens.

The UAE–Kazakhstan Business Forum took place during the visit, attended by officials, business leaders, and investors from both countries. The forum focused on exploring investment opportunities and increasing mutual investments in key sectors to support sustainable economic growth. Sheikh Khaled highlighted the forum's role in fostering strategic partnerships and economic integration.

On the sidelines of the forum, several cooperation agreements and MoUs were signed between public and private entities from both countries. These agreements covered sectors such as artificial intelligence, smart city development, data protection, ports, logistics, education, agriculture, and food products.

AIQ from the UAE signed a strategic agreement with KMG Engineering to develop AI solutions. In data centre development, Presight AI partnered with Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Digital Development to establish a data centre supporting smart city projects. AD Ports Group agreed with Semurg Invest to develop a terminal at Kuryk Seaport on the Caspian Sea.

KEZAD Group signed three MoUs with Kazakh entities to foster collaboration and explore future partnerships. In data protection, ADGM's Office of Data Protection signed an MoU with AIFC's Data Protection Office for international cooperation in personal data regulations.

Education and Agriculture Initiatives

The Emirates Kazakhstan Education Investment Group partnered with Astana's Education Board to build SABIS International School - Astana. This partnership focuses on delivering quality education for future generations. In agriculture, Al Khaleej Sugar agreed with Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture to develop a sugar processing plant in Almaty.

Lulu Group also signed an MoU with Kazakhstan’s Procurement Council to expand food trade and agricultural supply chains. These initiatives aim to strengthen bilateral relations across various sectors.

Thematic Panel Discussions

The forum featured panel discussions on strategic cooperation priorities between the two nations. The Digital Frontiers session explored how emerging technologies can transform sectors like healthcare and telecommunications. Another session examined new growth strategies in finance through financial technologies.

The Future of Urban Development session focused on real estate innovation for urban sustainability. The Accelerating the Energy Transition session addressed renewable energy solutions for green transformation. These discussions aimed at identifying opportunities for sustainable development goals.

Bilateral meetings between public and private sector representatives explored new investment opportunities supporting sustainable development goals during the forum.
