CPHI Middle East Exhibition Commences In Riyadh With Major Investments And Partnerships

The CPHI Middle East, a significant global pharmaceutical exhibition, commenced at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center. This event, sponsored by the Ministry of Health, will run until December 12. It has attracted over 400 exhibitors from 100 countries and more than 150 speakers from the pharmaceutical industry. The exhibition serves as a platform for discussing innovations and advancements in healthcare.

During the opening ceremony, Minister of Health Fahad Al-Jalajel announced agreements worth SAR10 billion. These include partnerships with major companies such as Vertex Pharmaceuticals for a project valued at around SAR1 billion and Tabuk Pharmaceuticals with an investment of SAR100 million. These collaborations aim to enhance Saudi Arabia's role as a hub for pharmaceutical innovation.

CPHI Middle East Launches in Riyadh Today

Vice Minister of Health for Planning and Development Eng. Abdulaziz AlRamaih spoke about the ongoing transformation in the healthcare sector. He emphasized the expanding role of the private sector in pharmaceuticals and highlighted Saudi Arabia's ambition to lead the biotechnology sector in the Middle East and North Africa by 2030 through the National Biotechnology Strategy.

The strategy is expected to create numerous jobs by supporting research, innovation, and integrated biomanufacturing. It aims to boost growth and competitiveness in the sector, contributing significantly to public health enhancement, economic growth, and strengthening health security.

Minister Al-Jalajel stated that hosting CPHI Middle East aligns with Saudi Vision 2030. This vision aims to contribute 3% to the gross domestic product, amounting to SAR130 billion annually by 2040. The exhibition is seen as a means to attract investments, foster global partnerships, support innovation, and promote sustainable growth.

According to IQVIA, a US-based healthcare research company, Saudi Arabia accounts for over half of the Middle East and North Africa market, exceeding $15 billion. The country's pharmaceutical industry ranks among the fastest-growing within G20 nations, standing at 15th globally with an anticipated annual growth rate of 9.3%.

Global Participation and Future Prospects

The exhibition features global experts, healthcare specialists, researchers, innovators, and leaders from companies like Sudair Pharma and Tabuk Pharmaceuticals. Discussions focus on future trends in pharmaceuticals and advancements in healthcare sectors.

This event underscores Saudi Arabia's leadership in healthcare both regionally and globally. It demonstrates a commitment to addressing current and future challenges through Vision 2030's comprehensive plan aimed at achieving self-sufficiency in vaccine production, biomanufacturing, and genomics.
