Urban Integration Moves Forward As Municipalities And Housing Ministry Sign MoU With New Murabba
The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing and New Murabba Development Company agreed on a new framework to work together on major urban development projects, aiming to align planning policies, improve city infrastructure, and support sustainable growth while enhancing quality of life in New Murabba and surrounding areas.
The understanding seeks to coordinate government and development efforts across several technical fields, including real estate, infrastructure, and community services, so that projects at the New Murabba destination follow national regulations and long-term strategies for sustainable urban development in Saudi Arabia.

The memorandum of cooperation was signed by Deputy Minister of Municipalities and Housing Ihab bin Ghazi Al-Hashani and Chief Executive Officer of New Murabba Development Company Michael Dyke, confirming shared responsibility for implementation and coordination between both sides on future urban development projects.
Both parties explained that the memorandum of cooperation is designed to support closer integration between public bodies and New Murabba Development Company in the field of urban development, and to help meet national goals for sustainable urban development through coordinated planning, investment, and technical standards.
The agreement covers joint work on integrating land uses within large projects, setting consistent policies for afforestation, sidewalks, green spaces, and architectural identity, while also observing traffic safety requirements and aligning these elements with national directions related to sustainable urban development.
Under the memorandum of cooperation, the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing and New Murabba Development Company will also study international experiences in developing city centres and infrastructure, with the aim of applying relevant global best practices to New Murabba and other urban development locations where suitable.
Another part of the memorandum of cooperation addresses sharing technical expertise in urban design, preparing unified technical and procedural manuals for construction and operational works, and launching community participation programmes that involve residents of project areas and nearby neighbourhoods in discussions about services and urban development plans.

Officials from both the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing and New Murabba Development Company indicated that this memorandum of cooperation is expected to guide ongoing coordination between relevant entities, helping urban development projects progress in line with sustainable urban development objectives while maintaining regulatory compliance and supporting better living standards for residents.
