Dubai RTA Unveils 40 Air-Conditioned Rest Areas For Delivery Riders. Where Can You Find Them?
The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled 40 newly built air-conditioned rest stops tailored for delivery riders throughout the city, marking a significant stride towards enhancing their welfare and ensuring road safety. This move, aimed at bolstering the delivery sector's infrastructure, reflects the RTA's dedication to creating a safer and more comfortable environment for riders during their breaks between orders.
Mattar Al Tayer, the Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, highlighted the importance of these rest areas, especially considering the delivery sector's rapid expansion over the years.
"The implementation of these rest areas underscores RTA's commitment to providing a safe and comfortable environment for delivery riders, particularly amid the rapid growth of the sector in recent years," Al Tayer explained. This development aligns with Dubai's Traffic Safety Strategy, aiming for 'Zero Fatalities’ and establishing the emirate as a leader in road safety globally.
The rest areas were implemented in Hessa Street, Barsha Heights, Al Barsha, Al Karama, Warqa Al Buteen, Umm Suqeim (Jumeirah 3), Jumeirah (Al Wasl Road), Haitha Greens, The Trade Center, Rashidiya, Satwa, Nad Al Hamar, Al Nahda, Oud Metha, Arabian Ranches, International City, Business Bay, Dubai Marina, Al Jaddaf, Mirdif, Last Exit Al Khawaneej, Dubai Motor City, and Al Garhoud.
The design and location of these rest stops have been meticulously planned to offer maximum comfort with minimal sun exposure, incorporating effective insulation without compromising visibility. Each rest area can accommodate up to 10 riders, depending on its location, and comes equipped with adjacent parking spaces for motorcycles.

The RTA selected these spots based on a thorough analysis of operational data, demand for delivery services, and consultations with delivery companies, ensuring they are strategically placed in areas with high service demand.
