Common Ground Festival In Riyadh Bridges China And Saudi Cultural Heritage
The Common Ground Festival in Riyadh is giving visitors an immersive look at Chinese civilisation and heritage, while also drawing links with Saudi traditions and values. Hosted at Malfa Hall in Mohammed bin Salman Nonprofit City, known as Misk City, the festival forms part of the Saudi-Chinese Year of Culture 2025.
This third edition focuses entirely on China and uses shared cultural values, identity, and tradition to highlight areas where Saudi and Chinese cultures intersect. By treating culture as a shared language, the event seeks to strengthen human connections and support mutual understanding between communities from both countries.

The Ministry of Culture is organising the Common Ground Festival as a wide-ranging cultural event that deepens intercultural dialogue between Saudi Arabia and China. Through this initiative, the ministry aims to showcase the depth and variety of Chinese heritage, while also reflecting how these elements engage with Saudi culture in meaningful and accessible ways.
The festival supports the National Culture Strategy under Saudi Vision 2030 by building solid channels of cultural communication and enhancing the Kingdom’s regional and international cultural presence. It also highlights Saudi Arabia’s role as an active centre for global cultural dialogue, using arts and heritage as tools for communication and shared reflection.
Organisers designed the Common Ground Festival for a broad audience, including families, individuals, tourists, international guests, official delegations, and cultural sector professionals. The programme features an art exhibition that promotes human connection by presenting culture as a global language. Together, the Saudi and Chinese heritage elements form a bridge for communication and intellectual enrichment for all visitors.
