Commerce Minister Engages With Global Counterparts At WEF To Boost Trade
On the first day of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Special Meeting in Riyadh, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, the Saudi Minister of Commerce, engaged in strategic discussions with a series of international ministers and officials. These meetings aimed at fostering trade relations and sharing expertise to support Saudi Arabia's vision of becoming a regional trade hub.
Dr. Al-Qasabi's engagements included talks with Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz, the Malaysian Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry; Lee Chang-yang, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy of Korea; and Dr. Ashatu Kijaji, the Tanzanian Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade. The focus was on enhancing trade exchange and transferring qualitative knowledge and experiences between their respective countries.

In a significant move towards bolstering the Kingdom's logistics infrastructure and shipping capabilities, Dr. Al-Qasabi and Vice Minister of Commerce Dr. Iman bint Habas Al-Mutairi met with key figures from the global trade and logistics sector. Discussions with Lord Mayor of the City of London Corporation Dr. Michael Mainelli and Robert Maersk Uggla, Chairman of the Board of Directors of "A.P. Moller – Maersk" Holding Group, revolved around partnership prospects for sustainable development efforts.
The meetings underscored Saudi Arabia's commitment to enhancing its role as a pivotal regional trade hub through strategic partnerships and knowledge exchange. This initiative is part of the Kingdom's broader vision to diversify its economy and strengthen its position in the global trade ecosystem.
