Commando Group Achieves First Place In Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship Finals
The Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, showcased intense competition on its tenth day. The event featured finals for purple and brown belts and black belt qualifiers. Athletes displayed sharp techniques and strategic skills as they vied for podium positions.
In the professional purple and brown belt divisions, Commando Group claimed first place, followed by M.O.D Academy in second, with Kazakhstan National Academy securing third. Fahad Ali Al Shamsi, Secretary General of the UAE and Asian Jiu-Jitsu Federations, noted the high level of competition and international growth of the sport. "Today we saw a championship that brings together the best athletes in the world and delivers top-level competition," he said.

Zayed Alkatheeri advanced to the men's black belt 62kg final. He expressed his excitement about reaching this stage at such a prestigious event. "I’m very happy to reach the final at the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship," he stated. Confident in his preparation, he aims to deliver an outstanding performance in pursuit of gold.
Dione Santos triumphed in the purple belt 94kg division, taking home a gold medal. He shared his pride in winning at one of the world's most significant events. "I’m very happy and proud to win the gold medal in this championship," Santos said. He dedicated his victory to his team, family, coach, and supporters who believed in him.
The final rounds are set for tomorrow from 6pm, featuring 12 finals across men's black belt and women's brown/black belt divisions. A notable match will see Emirati athlete Zayed Alkatheeri compete against Brazil’s Anderson Duarte in the Men’s GI / Black / Professional / 62kg final on Saturday.
