Commando Group Takes Lead On Day 1 Of Abu Dhabi World Amateur Jiu-Jitsu Championship
The Abu Dhabi World Amateur Jiu-Jitsu Championship began at Mubadala Arena, part of the 16th Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship. This event brings together amateur talents from top clubs and academies globally. At the end of the day, the UAE’s Commando Group led the medal tally, followed by Kazakhstan’s National Team in second place, with Brazil’s Checkmat International securing third.
For the first time, this championship has allocated two days specifically for amateur competitions. The initial day focused on adult amateurs aged 18 and above with white and blue belts. The following day will feature the master category for those over 30 with similar belt levels.

Mohamed Hussein Al Marzouqi, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, noted that dedicating two days to amateur competitions is strategic. It accommodates the increasing number of individuals joining jiu-jitsu, regardless of age. This initiative allows enthusiasts to test their skills in a competitive setting and experience a professional championship atmosphere.
This move underscores jiu-jitsu's inclusive nature as a sport accessible to everyone, irrespective of age or ability. Al Marzouqi highlighted that anyone can start practicing at any time and enjoy its numerous benefits. This initiative reflects the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s dedication to creating opportunities for all.
Dr. Mugheer Al Khaili stated: "The Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship reflects the limitless support of our wise leadership for the sport, recognising its role in building character and promoting discipline, self-confidence and teamwork, which are the qualities essential for a strong and united society." He praised the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation for advancing the sport and setting a strong example annually.
The championship serves as an inspiring platform for amateurs, supporting them on all levels. Jiu-jitsu fosters self-confidence and builds mental and social communication skills, positively impacting participants' studies, careers, and social lives.
