Clean Energy Demand In The Middle East Doubles Sector Activity, Mitsubishi Power

Mitsubishi Power is expanding its role in the Middle East as power needs surge for electricity, artificial intelligence and data centres. Javier Cavada, President and Chief Executive Officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said the company is aligning its technologies with regional plans for lower-emission, highly electrified economies.

Cavada stated that business for Mitsubishi Power in the UAE and across the Middle East is recording strong growth. This trend is linked to rising demand for clean and advanced energy solutions, as governments and industries seek reliable systems that cut emissions while supporting large-scale digital infrastructure and long-term industrial development.

Clean energy demand doubles in Middle East

According to Cavada, the Middle East has been the world’s primary energy hub for three to four decades. He said that regional stakeholders now share a strong ambition to make the area a centre for future energy. This shift is giving major momentum to events such as the World Future Energy Summit.

Speaking to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, during the summit held under Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, Cavada said Mitsubishi Power’s participation reflects its commitment to the energy transition. The company is focused on supporting regional plans to move from dependence on fossil fuels towards more electrified systems with lower overall emissions.

Cavada explained that demand for energy in the region is growing at an exceptional pace, especially in the clean energy segment. Large solar and wind projects are expanding, but Cavada stressed that these must be backed by systems that ensure electricity supply when sunlight or wind conditions are poor or intermittent.

Artificial intelligence and large data centres are described by Cavada as the next major revolution for societies. He stressed that artificial intelligence depends on electricity and that, without generating massive amounts of power, the promises of artificial intelligence cannot be realised. This creates further pressure to secure reliable, efficient and flexible power generation capacity.

Cavada said Mitsubishi Power is working on power generation and cooling solutions that address this rising demand, with an emphasis on delivering these technologies from within the Middle East to serve the wider region. He noted that the push for advanced energy solutions is highly competitive, and Mitsubishi Power has held first place in market share for advanced turbine-based power generation over the past three years.
