Claquette Event Connects Writers And Producers For Enhanced Drama Production Opportunities

Sharjah Media City (Shams) recently hosted "Claquette," an event that brought together directors, actors, scriptwriters, and producers. This gathering also included drama production companies and film enthusiasts. The theme "From Red Cinema to Stage" highlighted Shams' dedication to boosting local and regional drama content. The event offered a platform for writers and producers to showcase projects, fostering collaboration opportunities.

The "Claquette" event served as a bridge between creativity and practical production opportunities. Rashid Abdullah Al Obaid, Director General of Shams, emphasised the importance of linking creative ideas with real-world production possibilities. He noted that providing an environment conducive to nurturing talent is crucial for transforming ideas into viable projects.

During the event, a panel discussion titled "From Script to Screen" took place. Moderated by media personality Osama Alfa, it featured Emirati actor Ahmed Al Jasmi, writer Mona Al Dhaheri, and producer Iyad Al Najjar. They discussed the need for high-quality scripts and professional execution in drama productions. They also highlighted the importance of connecting young talents with production companies.

Ahmed Al Jasmi stressed that successful drama productions require genuine support from production companies. He mentioned that these companies play a vital role in turning good scripts into impactful works that resonate with audiences. Al Jasmi praised the "Claquette" event for effectively linking writers with producers.

Mona Al Dhaheri highlighted the significance of the "Hikayah - Writing Room" project in developing drama scripts and nurturing young talent. She pointed out that this initiative provides a comprehensive path from training to presenting scripts to decision-makers. Empowering writers enhances local and Arab drama content quality.

Producer Iyad Al Najjar underscored the importance of a well-structured script as the backbone of any successful drama project. He stated that investing in good scripts ensures content sustainability. According to him, smart producers identify promising scripts early on and develop them into successful screen projects.

Infrastructure Developments at Shams

The event also showcased plans for "Shams Studios," a major infrastructure project aimed at supporting film and media production in the region. This development includes six advanced studios spread over 10,200 square metres equipped with cutting-edge cinematic technologies.

The studios will provide an ideal indoor filming environment for both local and international production companies, reducing reliance on outdoor filming locations. This initiative marks a significant shift in Sharjah's media infrastructure, addressing the growing demand for advanced production spaces.

Interactive Opportunities for Collaboration

An interactive open space allowed "Hikayah" writers to present their projects to producers, investors, and decision-makers. This setting encouraged discussions about potential collaboration, development, and marketing opportunities.
