Civil Defense Celebrates 100 Years Of Service And Highlights Achievements Aligned With Vision 2030

The General Directorate of Civil Defense under the Ministry of Interior is marking its 100th anniversary this Tuesday, aligning with Saudi Arabia's hosting of the World Championship in Fire and Rescue Sport next week. This milestone highlights the essential humanitarian and societal contributions of the Civil Defense, which began with the first fire brigade in Makkah in 1346 AH.

Over the past century, Civil Defense has seen significant organizational and operational changes. These developments are now aligned with Saudi Vision 2030. The strategic vision includes initiatives that have improved service levels to meet international best practices and standards of institutional excellence.

Civil Defense Marks Centenary and Vision 2030

The sector is investing heavily in modern technology to boost operational efficiency. This includes using artificial intelligence for data analysis and risk prediction. Advanced equipment like drones with aerial detection systems for radioactive and chemical leaks and firefighting robots for high-risk areas are also being deployed.

These digital tools represent a significant advancement in public safety, allowing risks to be mitigated before they occur. The focus on technology underscores a commitment to enhancing safety measures and ensuring effective responses during emergencies.

Since establishing the first firefighting and rescue school in Makkah in 1375 AH, investing in personnel has been a top priority. Today, this commitment continues through extensive training programs aimed at improving the skills and readiness of Civil Defense staff.

A women's training center has also been set up to empower women and increase their involvement in this vital sector. These efforts reflect a broader strategy to enhance expertise across all levels of personnel within Civil Defense.

Role During Major Events

Civil Defense plays a crucial role during peacetime, disasters, and major events like Hajj and Umrah by preserving lives and protecting property. This is achieved by raising public awareness about safety measures and implementing prevention standards to ensure safe living conditions.

The sector's achievements are supported by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prime Minister, along with continuous oversight from the minister of interior.

Honouring Sacrifices

The nation pays tribute to its heroes who have sacrificed their lives while serving in Civil Defense. Their dedication underscores the importance of this sector's mission to safeguard citizens during emergencies.

This centennial celebration not only marks a historical milestone but also reaffirms the ongoing commitment to enhancing public safety through innovation, training, and strategic planning aligned with national goals.
