CEO Of Saudi Food And Drug Authority Meets Chinese Officials To Strengthen Cooperation In Food Safety

Dr. Hisham Aljadhey, CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), recently led a delegation to China. The visit aimed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) and participate in the 8th Shenzhen Food Safety Forum. This initiative is part of efforts to enhance cooperation between Saudi Arabia and China in food and drug regulation.

During the visit, Dr. Aljadhey, along with Saudi Ambassador to China Abdulrahman Al-Harbi, engaged with several Chinese authorities. Their first stop was at the China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment (CFSA). Here, discussions focused on best practices in food safety risk assessment, drawing from China's extensive experience in this field.

The delegation also visited the Institute for Biological Product Control (IBPC) at the National Institute for Food and Drug Control (NIFDC). Discussions centered around collaborative research projects related to vaccines, biosimilars, and innovative therapeutic products. They also explored advancements in gene and cell therapies, highlighting areas for potential cooperation.

Another significant meeting took place at the National Institute of Biological Sciences (NIBS), where Dr. Aljadhey met with Director Dr. Xiaodong Wang. They reviewed NIBS's research initiatives and its role in discovering biomedicines. The discussion also covered companies that have been established through NIBS's efforts.

These engagements represent a crucial step in strengthening bilateral ties between Saudi Arabia and China.
