KFSHRC's Centre For Healthcare Intelligence Drives Innovations In Patient Care And Operational Efficiency
King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSHRC) has been at the forefront of integrating Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies into healthcare. Since 2019, it has spearheaded efforts with the establishment of the Centre for Healthcare Intelligence (CHI). This initiative has significantly advanced healthcare by implementing cutting-edge technology, resulting in improved diagnostics, treatment outcomes, patient experiences, and operational efficiency.
CHI has developed various AI applications and predictive models for clinical and operational purposes. These include predicting bone marrow transplant outcomes and identifying patients at high risk of early complications. Additionally, a machine learning model helps identify heart failure patients likely to be readmitted, enabling preventive measures to reduce hospital readmissions.

KFSHRC's advancements align with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 Health Sector Transformation Program. This program aims to enhance healthcare quality and efficiency. As part of this initiative, KFSHRC will showcase its latest generative AI technology at the Global Health Exhibition in Riyadh from October 21 to 23. The technology is entirely developed by Saudi experts.
The use of AI in medical imaging has also seen significant progress at CHI. AI tools now assess breast cancer risk over five years using CT scans and evaluate pulmonary fibrosis progression. These innovations aid in early disease diagnosis and help physicians make informed treatment decisions based on comprehensive risk analysis.
Generative AI plays a crucial role in demand forecasting and big data analysis at KFSHRC. The hospital uses modern technology to streamline record review processes in its organ transplant clinic. By automatically summarising key data from patients' historical records, the system enables quick access to relevant information for effective decision-making.
The AI system at KFSHRC is named "JuhAIna," inspired by an Arabic term symbolising accuracy and reliability. This system allows healthcare practitioners to efficiently inquire about patient conditions using summarised data from medical records, enhancing decision-making processes.
KFSHRC's proactive approach towards adopting advanced technologies demonstrates its commitment to transforming into a smarter healthcare facility. Through these initiatives, the hospital continues to lead in improving healthcare services while contributing to Saudi Arabia's broader vision for future-ready healthcare systems.
