Minister Bandar Alkhorayef Engages With Canadian Officials On Industrial Innovation And Smart Cities

Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef recently engaged in discussions with Canadian government officials to enhance industrial and mining cooperation. The meetings focused on developing industrial innovation and establishing smart industrial cities in Saudi Arabia by leveraging Canadian expertise. These discussions are part of Alkhorayef's official visit to Canada, aimed at strengthening ties between the two nations.

During a meeting with François-Philippe Champagne, Canada's Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, Alkhorayef emphasized Saudi Arabia's commitment to the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics in advancing the industrial sector. The discussions included improving production efficiency in industrial facilities through AI applications.

Discussions on Industrial Innovation with Canada

The talks also explored enhancing cooperation in industrial digitization. Both sides discussed utilizing AI technologies to improve industrial processes and building smart industrial cities in Saudi Arabia. They aim to benefit from Canada's advancements in digital infrastructure to achieve these goals.

In another meeting with Ahmed Hussen, Canadian Minister of International Development, Alkhorayef discussed enhancing economic relations and non-oil trade. Saudi Arabia is Canada's largest trading partner in the Middle East and North Africa, making this collaboration crucial for both countries' economic growth.

The partnership between the Saudi Ministry of Education and Metax, a Canadian research organization funded by Canada's Ministry of Innovation, Science and Industry, was also a topic of discussion. This collaboration focuses on providing joint research opportunities for graduate and doctoral students from both countries.

Alkhorayef also met with Ryan Montpellier, Executive Director of Canada's Mining Industry Human Resources Council (MIHR). They discussed strategies for workforce development in the mining sector, aiming to benefit from MIHR's expertise in human capabilities development.

The ministers reviewed the global role of industrial development in advancing communities. They emphasized its impact on increasing well-being and improving living standards worldwide. These discussions highlight the importance of international cooperation in fostering sustainable development.
