C4IR Saudi Arabia To Host Global Experts Celebrating World Quantum Day 2025 And Quantum Science Advancements

The Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) Saudi Arabia, in partnership with King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and Saudi Aramco, is organising an event titled "Discovering Quantum Possibilities." This gathering will take place on April 14, 2025, at The Garage to celebrate World Quantum Day. The date is significant as it represents the first three digits of Planck's constant (4.14), a key element in quantum mechanics.

April 14 has been chosen for its symbolic connection to quantum science. It marks the first three digits of Planck's constant, a fundamental value in physics that defines the smallest energy a photon can carry. This makes it an apt choice for celebrating quantum advancements annually.

C4IR Saudi Arabia Celebrates World Quantum Day 2025

The event will bring together leaders from various sectors to discuss innovations in quantum technologies. These discussions will focus on their impact on industries and society. The United Nations has declared 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, marking a century of progress in this field.

Among the notable speakers are Dr. Talal Al-Sedairy, Senior Vice President of KACST for Research and Development, and Dr. Mariam Nouh, Vice President of KACST for Economies of the Future. They will share insights into Saudi Arabia's vision for advancing quantum technologies.

Dr. Sebastian Buckup from the World Economic Forum will also participate. Other speakers include Eng. Muhammad AlSaiyari from Saudi Aramco and Chairman of the Saudi Quantum Computing Association; Professor Ibrahim Niaz, CEO of the National Technology Development Program; Ilyas Khan from Quantinuum; and Rebecca Krauthammer from QuSecure.

Dr. Basma Al-Buhairan, Managing Director of C4IR Saudi Arabia, emphasised their commitment to innovation and policy development in quantum technologies. She stated that quantum science plays a crucial role in transforming industries, governance, and security.

A Platform for Innovation

The event will also reveal winners of the "UpLink Quantum for Society" challenge. This initiative by C4IR Saudi Arabia and the World Economic Forum's UpLink platform highlights quantum-based solutions addressing global challenges by entrepreneurs and startups.

"World Quantum Day represents an important moment for global experts to engage, promote regulatory developments, and raise awareness of the transformative potential of quantum sciences to shape a comprehensive and sustainable future," said Dr. Al-Buhairan.

Building on Past Success

This year's celebration follows last year’s successful event which was Saudi Arabia's first World Quantum Day celebration. It attracted over 300 attendees in person, featured nine panels and exhibits, and garnered more than 5,000 livestream views.
