Burjeel Medical City Unveils Advanced Epilepsy Monitoring Unit To Enhance Patient Care In The UAE
Burjeel Medical City has introduced a new Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) within its Neuroscience Institute. This initiative aims to enhance care for those with epilepsy in the UAE. The EMU is among the few specialised units in the region, focusing on improving diagnosis and management of epilepsy.
The EMU caters to both adults and children, equipped with a sophisticated video EEG monitoring system. This system combines brain activity measurement with video recording to observe seizures. It helps in understanding seizure types and distinguishing epilepsy from similar conditions.

This advanced technology aids in precise diagnosis, allowing doctors to assess if patients with uncontrolled seizures might benefit from surgery. The unit's launch was attended by Dr. Mujtaba Ali Khan, CEO of BMC, and Dr. Mohammad Fityan, Chief Medical Officer of BMC.
John Sunil, Group CEO of Burjeel Holdings, stated: "Epilepsy affects millions of people worldwide, with profound impacts on patients and their families. The launch of our Epilepsy Monitoring Unit is a significant step towards delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. We have established the unit with a vision to serve those in need with compassion, expertise, and cutting-edge technology."
The EMU represents a crucial advancement in bridging the treatment gap for epilepsy patients within the UAE. By providing expert care locally, it ensures timely intervention for those affected by this neurological condition.
This development underscores Burjeel Medical City's commitment to offering comprehensive healthcare solutions. The facility continues to prioritise patient-centred approaches while integrating modern technologies into its services.
