Burjeel Medical City Introduces Advanced Balance Lab To Enhance ENT Services And Patient Care

Burjeel Medical City (BMC) has launched a cutting-edge Balance Lab at the Burjeel ENT Head & Neck Institute. This new facility focuses on diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating balance and vertigo disorders. It enhances BMC's capabilities in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery. The lab was inaugurated by Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Founder of Burjeel Holdings, along with other key officials.

The Balance Lab is equipped with advanced technology to assess and treat balance issues. It uses tools like Vestibular Nystagmography (VNG), Video Head Impulse Test (VHIT), rotatory chairs, and TRV chairs for Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). These tools help identify and quantify balance system impairments accurately.

The lab employs a structured testing protocol to diagnose dizziness causes accurately. Conditions like inner ear disorders, neurological issues, strokes, muscle weaknesses, and peripheral neuropathy can lead to such symptoms. The lab's technology allows for early detection of these conditions.

The Balance Lab also plays a vital role in rehabilitation by offering customised therapy programmes. These programmes aim to address long-term challenges and prevent falls. The integration of diagnostic equipment with advanced software supports effective rehabilitation through a multidisciplinary approach.

The institute has also introduced a hearing aid booth featuring advanced technologies. It offers various hearing aids and services like fitting, calibration, programming, troubleshooting, ear molds, swim plugs, and tinnitus masking devices. This addition improves personalised hearing care at the clinic.

The introduction of these advanced technologies in both the Balance Lab and hearing aid booth is anticipated to greatly enhance patient care quality at BMC.
