UAE: Burjeel Launches Oracle Health EMR Platform To Enhance Patient Care
Burjeel Holdings has introduced a major Electronic Medical Record (EMR) platform in the region. The Oracle Health EMR platform aims to revolutionise patient care, enhance clinical outcomes, and boost operational efficiency across Burjeel's network. This initiative marks a significant technological advancement for Burjeel, underscoring its commitment to integrating cutting-edge digital solutions for a connected, patient-focused healthcare system.
The platform was unveiled at an event held at Burjeel Medical City (BMC), the Group's flagship facility. Attendees included Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Founder and Chairman of Burjeel Holdings; John Sunil, Group CEO; Alaa Adel, Senior Vice President and Managing Director – International of Oracle Health; and Akram Sami Dhaini, Vice President and Managing Director, along with other senior officials.

This launch is pivotal for advancing AI adoption and data utilisation to provide evidence-based care in the region. It strengthens Burjeel's leadership in next-generation healthcare innovation. As one of the first regional healthcare providers to implement Oracle Health's EMR solution on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) in the Oracle Cloud Dubai Region, Burjeel is set to enhance its value-creation strategy by leveraging technology for operational excellence.
The EMR system rollout has commenced at several facilities including BMC, Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi, and Burjeel Day Surgery Centre on Al Reem Island. These initial deployments are crucial for a structured rollout across the Group's extensive healthcare network. The platform simplifies access to comprehensive patient data, enabling caregivers to make informed decisions swiftly.
Over 3,700 employees across Burjeel's hospitals have undergone rigorous training to adapt to this new system. They received support from super-users, lead super-users, and over 60 Oracle experts during this transition. The platform streamlines workflows and enhances patient safety with integrated alerts and protocols while delivering actionable insights through data analytics.
The system improves clinical outcomes by providing timely access to critical information. It reduces patient waiting times and increases engagement with more face-to-face time between patients and clinicians. Built on Oracle's robust cloud infrastructure, it supports interoperability across Burjeel’s clinical ecosystem.
The platform facilitates real-time coordination and information exchange among providers, patients, and facilities—essential for advanced care delivery models. This integration ensures that all parties involved in patient care have access to up-to-date information necessary for delivering high-quality healthcare services.
This technological upgrade represents the largest in Burjeel's history. It highlights the Group’s dedication to adopting advanced digital solutions aimed at building a connected healthcare ecosystem focused on patients' needs.
The introduction of this EMR platform is a milestone for Burjeel Holdings as it continues to lead in healthcare innovation within the region. By embracing such transformative technology, Burjeel reinforces its position as a pioneer in delivering state-of-the-art medical services.
