Burjeel Holdings Secures NIHS Accreditation For Hematology-Oncology Fellowship Programme In UAE
Burjeel Holdings has reached a pivotal point in healthcare education by securing accreditation from the National Institute for Health Specialties (NIHS) in the UAE. This recognition applies to two specialised medical training programmes: Orthopedic Residency and Hematology-Oncology Fellowship. The Hematology-Oncology Fellowship is notable as it marks Burjeel Holdings as the first UAE healthcare provider to receive such an accolade.
The Orthopedic Residency programme's accreditation is a significant achievement for Abu Dhabi's private healthcare sector. Dr. Mohammed Al Houqani, Secretary-General of NIHS, officially awarded this accreditation during a ceremony. The event was attended by Dr. Rashed Alsuwaidi, Acting Director-General of Healthcare Regulatory at the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, along with senior officials from Burjeel Holdings.

Dr. Mohammed Al Houqani commended Burjeel Holdings for its role in advancing medical education. He highlighted their contributions to training healthcare professionals to meet global standards. He noted that Burjeel Holdings has created an ideal training environment based on best practices, which will enhance the healthcare sector with skilled physicians ready to tackle medical challenges.
Dr. Tahani Al Qadiri, Group Director of Emiratization and Academics at Burjeel Holdings, expressed pride in this achievement. She stated that the accreditation underscores Burjeel’s dedication to developing future specialised healthcare professionals in the region. "This milestone not only strengthens our position as a leader in private-sector medical education but also contributes significantly to Abu Dhabi’s healthcare ecosystem by nurturing highly skilled specialists," she added.
Prof. Humaid Al Shamsi, CEO of Burjeel Cancer Institute, believes this initiative will lead to improved patient outcomes. Dr. Mohamed Muath ADI, Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon at Burjeel Medical City and Director of the Orthopedic Residency Programme, mentioned that this milestone will boost orthopedic education quality and training in the region.
