At the core of Burjeel Holdings' ESG strategy are ambitious targets aimed at reducing its environmental footprint. The company has committed to reducing combined Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2024 and developing a strategy for Scope 3 carbon emissions by 2025. Furthermore, Burjeel Holdings aims to achieve zero waste to landfill by 2040 and reduce water consumption by 10% by 2030, with plans to reuse 5% of total water consumed annually.

Burjeel Holdings is not only focused on environmental goals but also on making a positive impact on communities. The company aims to touch over 7 million lives per year through various initiatives by 2026. It plans to engage 30% of corporate employees in community volunteer activities annually starting in 2025. Additionally, patient education programmes for those with chronic conditions will be implemented for 70% of active patients by 2026, alongside regular patient satisfaction surveys to maintain a satisfaction rate of 85% or higher.
Commitment to Governance and Employee Well-being
The organisation places a strong emphasis on governance, aiming for a high percentage of independent directors on its board. It is also committed to employee training programmes on data privacy, security, ethics, and compliance. By 2027, all hospitals in Abu Dhabi will be accredited by the Abu Dhabi Healthcare Information and Cyber Security Standard (ADHICS), with ISO 27001 certification for all remaining hospitals.
Fostering Diversity and Excellence
Burjeel Holdings is dedicated to increasing the representation of women in leadership roles to 30% or higher by 2030 and maintaining a balanced gender ratio. The company also aims for all hospitals to be permanently accredited by the JCI, reflecting its commitment to the highest standards of patient care and safety. Employee satisfaction is a priority, with a target score of 95% by 2026 and efforts to reduce turnover rate by 15% within the same timeframe.
