Burjeel Cancer Institute Launches Comprehensive Breast Centre For Women's Health
The Burjeel Cancer Institute (BCI) has introduced the Burjeel Breast Centre, a pioneering facility in the UAE. This centre offers comprehensive care for women with both cancerous and non-cancerous breast conditions. The launch event took place at Burjeel Medical City, attended by key figures from Abu Dhabi's health sector and Burjeel Holdings.
Located within Burjeel Medical City, the centre serves as a comprehensive hub for breast health. It combines advanced diagnostics, personalised treatments, and support services. Patients benefit from seamless screening, diagnosis, and treatment processes. Same-day appointments and on-site sample analysis ensure timely interventions.

The centre boasts cutting-edge technology like the HOLOGIC 3Dimensions™ Mammography System. An AI-assisted radiology platform enhances accuracy in interpreting mammograms, ultrasounds, and MRIs. This reduces false diagnoses significantly. Early detection is crucial, with recovery rates potentially exceeding 95% when caught early.
An all-women medical team leads the centre, including renowned specialists like Consultant Breast Imaging and Interventional Radiologist Nehad Abdul Razzaq Kazim Albastaki. This approach prioritises patient privacy and comfort while maintaining high-quality care standards.
A unique feature of the centre is its Survivorship Lounge—the first in the region—dedicated to supporting breast cancer survivors. It provides personalised care plans, wellness resources, psychological support, and lifestyle guidance. A team of clinicians, mental health professionals, and survivor volunteers facilitate these services.
Additionally, BCI has launched the UAE's first specialised oncology pharmacy within the institute. This pharmacy caters specifically to cancer patients' needs by offering tailored medication plans, counselling, and expert support to improve treatment outcomes.
Commitment to Women's Healthcare
John Sunil, Group CEO of Burjeel Holdings, expressed that the new centre underscores their dedication to enhancing women's healthcare standards in the region. He stated: "The launch of the Burjeel Breast Centre reflects our commitment to raising the standard of women’s healthcare in the region."
Prof Humaid Al Shamsi, CEO of Burjeel Cancer Institute, highlighted their innovative approach: "We have reimagined breast care through an empathetic and efficient clinical environment." Their AI systems analyse genetic data for highly personalised treatment plans.
The establishment of this centre marks a significant milestone for BCI in leading complex cancer care across the UAE and beyond. It sets new benchmarks for clinical innovation and patient-focused services in the region.
