Burj Rashid Exhibition Inaugurated By Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed To Celebrate Dubai's Cultural Heritage
The Burj Rashid Exhibition, celebrating the 45th anniversary of the iconic tower, was inaugurated by H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum at the Al Safa Art & Design Library. Organised by Dubai Culture, this exhibition is part of the 'Dubai Series' initiative, which annually highlights unique aspects of Dubai.
Running until 2nd May, the exhibition showcases Burj Rashid's role in Dubai's architectural and economic growth. It reflects the visionary aspirations of the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum and his successors, including His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Their leadership has transformed Dubai into a global business hub.
Over 30 artists have contributed to the exhibition, with artworks inspired by Burj Rashid. Dr. Aref Alshaikh's poetry piece titled ‘Burj Rashid’ stands out, reflecting the ambitions of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum and architect John R. Harris. The tower's elegance has been preserved through engineer Held's work, making it a global commercial symbol.
Sheikha Wafa bint Hasher Al Maktoum’s photograph ‘Ramadan Cannon at Burj Rashid’ captures a moment at sunset near the tower. Abdulraheem Salim’s artwork ‘Burj Rashid at Night’ portrays resilience in overcoming environmental challenges to bring this iconic structure to life.
Ali Mrad’s piece ‘Launch’ invites reflection on Dubai’s journey from its origins to its visionary future. Nawal Ahmad Alblooshi’s digital art ‘Rashid Pattern’ explores visual rhythm using the tower’s silhouette, while her ‘Rashid Bauhaus’ merges Bauhaus principles with Arabic traditions for harmonious design.
The REALIITY Collective members Dr. Ahmad AlAttar and Mohamad AlHamadi used AI in their artwork ‘A Glimpse into Sheikh Rashid Tower’. This piece reimagines historic photographs, offering insights into the tower’s emergence.

Sheikh Maktoum bin Marwan Al Maktoum’s ‘Remembrance’ examines human-architecture dialogue through space exploration. Ammar Al Attar’s ‘Trade Centre Roundabout’ documents views from Etisalat building, capturing Dubai's rapid evolution.
Alia AlShamsi’s series ‘Burj Rashid’ deconstructs architectural elements to reveal hidden patterns. Majedah Al Awadhi and Saeed Al Ketbi transform geometric aesthetics into layered designs harmonised with various products in their ‘Burj Rashid Collection’.
Exploring Architectural Heritage
Hussain AlMoosawi’s work documents UAE’s architectural heritage through ‘Façade to Façade: Dubai World Trade Centre’. Asma Belhamar explores natural geography interplay with urban landscape in her piece titled ‘Dubai World Trade Centre’.
Faisal Abdulqader honours panoramic views from Burj Rashid's 33rd floor with his work ‘The Luminous 33’. Collaborating with Shamma Al Bastaki, he created the 'Tryptitectural Study' series using watercolour and poetry to celebrate architectural aesthetics.
Cultural Significance Through Art
Patricia Millns FRSA captures identity evolution in her piece ‘Belonging’, while Ahmed Kattan reimagines façades using 3D techniques inspired by traditional Emirati attire in his work titled 'Legacy Veil'.
Fatima Humaid Alsuwaidi juxtaposes photographs from different eras in her visual study 'Vestige', showcasing Dubai's transformation over time. Sara Al Khayyal explores memory significance in attributing value through her piece 'Relevance of Memories'.
A Symbol of Growth and Development
Houssam Ballan draws inspiration from architectural motifs for his painting 'Burj Rashid - A Symbol of Growth and Development'. Under 'Saray Dubai', artists Amna Bin Bishr, Duna Ajlan, and Dania Ajlan present seating designs inspired by Burj Rashid.
Lies Maculan reflects unity through seven façade elements in 'Falling Into Place'. Rashed Almulla proposes adaptability with his modular pavilion design 'Merin', featuring wooden columns and fabrics inspired by Burj Rashid.
Creative Collaborations and Innovations
Hind Khalid and Jasim Alnaqbi collaborated on an experimental font design featuring patterns from Burj Rashid's façade called 'Burj Rashid Font'. Latifa Saeed celebrates craftsmanship in her painting 'Architects of the Infinite', highlighting Dubai's extraordinary transformation.
The exhibition is organised with partners like Government of Dubai Media Office, National Library & Archives, Dubai World Trade Centre, among others. It features diverse artworks that capture cultural significance while celebrating creativity inspired by Burj Rashid as a symbol of growth.
