Buraidah Dates Carnival To Showcase Over 50 Varieties In Economic Extravaganza

The Dates Carnival in Buraidah begins tomorrow. Organised by the Governorate of Qassim Region and the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, it is supervised by the National Center for Palms and Dates. The event is supported by Qassim Municipality and the region's Police Department. Known as the world's most prominent agricultural economic event, it will run for 51 days with morning and evening shifts.

This year, over 4,300 young men and women will engage in various fields at the carnival. Farmers and traders will showcase more than 50 varieties of Qassim dates, including "Sukkari, Barhi, and Saqi." The carnival is also known for its purchasing power and aims to surpass last year's figures, aligning with the Kingdom's progress in all sectors.

Dates Carnival Begins in Buraidah

The event prepares to welcome more than 2,000 vehicles daily, loaded with hundreds of tons of dates in Buraidah. Last year saw over 400,000 visitors attending the carnival. In 2023, more than 60,000 farmers' vehicles entered the market, carrying over 7 million packages close to 300,000 tons.

The Buraidah Dates Carnival is renowned for generating robust revenues in the region. The number of palm trees in Saudi Arabia exceeds 34 million, with Qassim region accounting for 11.2 million palm trees. Date production in Qassim amounts to over 528,000 tons annually, representing about 35% of the Kingdom's total date production of 1.6 million tons.

The carnival includes multiple events and activities designed to attract a wide audience. It aims to exceed previous years' achievements by keeping pace with national advancements across various fields.

With its extensive participation and diverse offerings, the Buraidah Dates Carnival continues to be a significant event on the agricultural calendar. The event not only highlights local produce but also contributes significantly to the economy.
