BRIDGE Summit Emphasises UAE's Role In Shaping The Future Of Media, Says Vox Media CEO

Jim Bankoff, Co-founder, Chair and CEO of Vox Media, highlighted the importance of the BRIDGE Summit in fostering understanding. During an interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) at the inaugural BRIDGE Summit 2025 held at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, Bankoff shared his thoughts on his first visit to the UAE. He expressed gratitude for the summit's concept and the chance it provided him to discuss media and his profession.

Bankoff discussed current challenges shaping the media industry. He noted that rapid societal changes place media at their core. Technology, including AI and the creator economy, significantly influences these shifts. Additionally, changes in societal operations and economic functions impact media dynamics.

He stressed that media must adapt by understanding audience needs while ensuring financial success. "It must understand what audiences need and deliver for them," he said. He added that AI presents both threats and opportunities for the industry.

The summit offered a global perspective, according to Bankoff. Coming from the United States, he appreciated hearing diverse influences from regions like the Gulf, Asia, Africa, Europe, and America. He found it enriching to have these varied viewpoints converge at one event.

Bankoff also mentioned conversations at the summit about providing platforms for talented individuals within his organisation. The focus was on leveraging technology to amplify their work and transform developments into business opportunities.

UAE's Role in Progress

Bankoff praised the UAE's efforts in hosting the BRIDGE Summit and its commitment to learning and openness. "The willingness to host the BRIDGE Summit... are exactly the steps required to move in the right direction," he said. He observed that the UAE is making commendable strides in this regard.
