BRIDGE Summit 2025 Establishes UAE As A Global Hub For Music And Cultural Exchange
The BRIDGE Summit 2025 opened in Abu Dhabi, showcasing the UAE's role as a cultural and creative hub. This major media event gathered artists and industry leaders to discuss music's ability to cross borders, create opportunities, and enhance human connections in a digital age.
Imad Mesdoua from Spotify highlighted how streaming and AI are changing global music engagement. He noted that before streaming, access was limited by location and cost. Platforms like Spotify have broadened artist exposure worldwide, allowing diverse stories to be shared across borders.

Mesdoua shared that 28 years ago, it seemed unlikely for Nigerian artists to fill stadiums in the US or UK. Yet today, this is common due to streaming's influence. He emphasised music's personal nature and its power to convey stories globally.
Spotify combines algorithmic discovery with human curation. Algorithms adapt to listener habits while introducing new genres. Editors in the UAE monitor live music trends and emerging artists. Initiatives like Fresh Finds help unsigned artists reach international audiences.
In another session, Aziz Maraka and Faia Younan discussed music's emotional impact across cultures. Maraka views his art as self-reflection rather than market-driven. He believes genuine emotions resonate more than trends, as audiences connect with the person behind the music.
Younan stressed emotion as key to her cross-cultural appeal. She said songs lose meaning without genuine feelings since emotion reaches listeners first, even if they don't understand the language. She contrasted AI with creativity, noting AI can complete tasks but lacks the joy of creating music.
AI's Role Versus Human Creativity
Maraka acknowledged AI's potential in providing rhythm or rhyme but argued it can't replicate human experiences like mistakes or growth that make songs authentic. Younan added that creativity involves revisiting ideas until they reveal their truth, something AI can't experience.
The BRIDGE Summit features over 300 sessions exploring media, content, entertainment, technology, finance, culture, and the creative economy. Held from 8–10 December 2025 at ADNEC in Abu Dhabi, it offers a platform for leaders to address challenges and collaborate across industries.
