Saudi Arabia's Vice Minister Of Foreign Affairs Engages In BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting On Global South's Role

Eng. Waleed Elkhereiji, representing Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, attended the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The meeting focused on "The Role of the Global South in Strengthening Multilateralism." Saudi Arabia participated as an invited nation to join the BRICS group, highlighting its commitment to multilateral cooperation.

Elkhereiji expressed gratitude for the invitation extended to Saudi Arabia in the 2023 Johannesburg Summit Declaration. He emphasized the Kingdom's eagerness to collaborate within multilateral frameworks to create a future rich with opportunities for both the Global South and the world. The Vice Minister also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s desire to support BRICS and the international community in addressing global crises and reducing tensions.

The Vice Minister stressed that Saudi Arabia remains dedicated to leading initiatives through various committees, including those from the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit. These efforts aim to gather international backing for ending violence, safeguarding civilians, and ensuring humanitarian aid reaches affected Palestinian regions. Elkhereiji reaffirmed that pursuing a two-state solution is essential for achieving lasting peace and security.

Saudi Arabia continues to act as a dependable and impartial partner in efforts to reduce regional and global tensions. The Kingdom works closely with international partners to uphold multilateralism principles and foster a safer, more prosperous world. The session was attended by notable figures such as Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Brazil, Dr. Faisal Ghulam, and Shaher Al-Khonaini, Director General of International Organizations.
