Brand Dubai Celebrates UAE Founding Fathers With New Artwork At DIFC Gate

Brand Dubai, the creative division of the Government of Dubai Media Office, has revealed a new artwork at the DIFC Gate. This piece honours the UAE's Founding Fathers, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. The artwork is part of the #ZayedAndRashid campaign, celebrating national events like Flag Day and Eid Al Etihad.

The tribute features a 50-metre portrait of the two leaders set against the modern UAE they envisioned during its early years. The images were originally captured by photographer Ramesh Shukla, who was inspired by their vision for the nation. Shukla's work documents the UAE's transformation over five decades while celebrating its history and heritage.

This campaign captures patriotic feelings as people celebrate another significant year of nationhood. It marks a time of national celebration across the UAE. The artwork highlights the visionary leaders and their enduring values that will continue to inspire future generations.

Emirati artist Maitha Demithan designed the backdrop for this artwork. She uses a unique technique blending art and photography to create striking three-dimensional imagery on a two-dimensional plane. Her work has been exhibited in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Venice, London, Paris, and Korea.

Demithan's exhibitions include Abu Dhabi Art (2011), Art Dubai (2012–14), and Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art in Korea (2012). Her innovative approach adds depth to this tribute to the UAE's founding leaders.

Shaima Al Suwaidi, Director of Brand Dubai, stated: "The DIFC installation symbolises the oneness of purpose that has epitomised the UAE’s nation-building effort from the very outset." She noted that cultural showcases and spontaneous festivities mark this occasion as the nation celebrates Eid Al Etihad and Flag Day.

Saleh Al Akrabi, Chief Real Estate Officer at DIFC Investments Ltd, expressed delight in collaborating with Brand Dubai for this project. He said: "DIFC is delighted to be working with Brand Dubai to celebrate the achievements of the UAE’s leadership and Founding Fathers through this UAE Flag Day installation on the beautiful DIFC Gate building."

Al Akrabi emphasised that their leaders are role models in work, innovation, and patriotism. He acknowledged that DIFC would not be among leading global financial centres without their leadership's vision.

This artistic tribute serves as a reminder of Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid's legacy. Their contributions continue to shape the nation's path forward while inspiring younger generations with their enduring values.
