Brand Dubai Enhances Ramadan Celebrations With Stunning Light Projections On Iconic Mosques

Throughout Ramadan, four of Dubai's renowned mosques will be adorned with captivating light displays, offering a mesmerising visual treat for both residents and visitors. This initiative is part of 'Anwaar Dubai,' a project by Brand Dubai, the creative division of the Government of Dubai Media Office. The illuminations are a significant feature of this year's #RamadanInDubai campaign.

The campaign commenced at the start of Ramadan under the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council. The light projections transform the facades of Jumeirah Grand Mosque, Al Khawaneej Mosque (Al Habbai), Sheikh Rashid Bin Mohammed Mosque (Al Hudaiba), and Zabeel Grand Mosque into vibrant displays showcasing artistic and cultural heritage.

Dubai's Mosques Transformed with Light Projections

This project introduces a fresh aesthetic to Ramadan festivities in Dubai by employing advanced lighting technology to craft a distinctive visual experience. The entire structure of each mosque, including minarets and domes, is illuminated with intricate designs that complement their architectural elegance and surroundings. The lighting effects also extend to the mosque floors, enhancing the immersive display.

Shaima Al Suwaidi, Director of Brand Dubai, stated that this creative initiative aligns with Dubai's efforts to integrate art, technology, and cultural expression to enrich community experiences within their urban environment. She emphasised that 'Anwaar Dubai' reflects Brand Dubai's dedication to celebrating religious and national events innovatively, capturing Ramadan's essence while enhancing the emirate's aesthetic appeal.

Mahra Al Youha from the organising committee of #RamadanInDubai highlighted how this initiative merges advanced lighting technology with unique visual artistry to present Dubai’s cultural and Islamic identity in a modern form. By blending tradition with contemporary creativity, these projections create an engaging display that enhances the city's Ramadan atmosphere.

The celebration of Ramadan is deeply embedded in Emirati culture, representing UAE values. Now in its second year, the Ramadan in Dubai campaign continues to enhance the city's festive atmosphere and celebrate its rich cultural heritage throughout the Holy Month. This effort is led by Brand Dubai in collaboration with government entities and private sector partners.
