'Birds Of Goodness' Delivers Record 125 Tonnes Of Aid To Gaza For Eid Al Fitr
The Joint Operations Command of the Ministry of Defence has recently marked a significant milestone with the completion of its 30th "Birds of Goodness" airdrop operation. This latest mission, executed on 10th April 2024, saw the delivery of 125 tonnes of humanitarian aid and Eid clothing to the northern regions of Gaza, setting a new record for the largest airdrop conducted under this initiative. Utilizing a fleet of six aircraft, including three C-17s from the UAE Air Force and two C-295s plus one C-130 from the Egyptian Air Force, this operation underscores a robust collaboration aimed at providing essential support to the Palestinian people.
The cargo delivered during this operation was carefully curated to meet the immediate needs of families in Gaza, especially in anticipation of Eid Al Fitr. The aid parcels included not only essential food items but also special Eid clothing packages, toys, sweets, and various other products designed to bring joy and hope to families during the festive season. This gesture is part of a broader effort to alleviate the hardships faced by those living in isolated areas of northern Gaza, areas that are often difficult to reach via traditional land routes.

Since its inception, the "Birds of Goodness" campaign has successfully delivered a total of 1,857 tonnes of food and relief supplies to Gaza. This recent operation has increased the total amount of aid sent by the UAE to over 2,227 tonnes, including contributions made through both land shipments via the Kerem Shalom crossing and aerial drops. This ongoing commitment forms a crucial part of Operation "Chivalrous Knight 3," which aims to provide sustained support to the Palestinian populace in Gaza.
The significance of these operations cannot be overstated, as they represent a lifeline for many families in Gaza during times of celebration and need. By ensuring the delivery of both basic necessities and items that contribute to the festive spirit of Eid, the UAE and Egypt are demonstrating a profound commitment to supporting Palestinian communities under challenging circumstances.
