In a thrilling display of endurance and strategy, Australian cyclist Ben O'Connor from the Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team clinched victory in stage 3 of the 6th UAE Tour. The race, which unfolded on the challenging slopes of Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah, marked the tour's first mountain stage. O'Connor's remarkable performance was highlighted by a perfectly-timed attack just 1.2 km before the finish line, securing his lead over competitors Jay Vine of UAE Team Emirates and Lennert Van Eetvelt from Lotto Dstny.
The ascent of Jebel Jais, spanning 21 km, tested the mettle of the riders as they navigated its demanding terrain. O'Connor's triumph on Wednesday, 21st February, not only showcased his climbing prowess but also underscored his tactical acumen. "It’s been a while since I last won a mountain top. It was amazing. The boys were super good today. Second win of the year; it’s pretty cool," O'Connor shared post-race, highlighting his team's collective effort and his strategic decision to launch an early attack.

The UAE Tour 2024 continues to captivate cycling enthusiasts with its diverse stages, including the upcoming Dubai Stage. This fourth stage spans 175 km and is set to commence at twelve-thirty in the afternoon on Thursday, 22nd February, from the Dubai Police Officers Club to Dubai Harbour. As the only international race in the Middle East, the UAE Tour holds a special place in the cycling calendar, running from 19th to 25th February.
Stage 3's commencement from Al Marjan Island and its culmination at Jebel Jais offered a spectacular backdrop for what has been an enthralling competition thus far.
