BEEAH Reveals Innovative Design For Jawaher Boston Medical District In Sharjah
BEEAH has chosen Renzo Piano Building Workshop (RPBW) for the Jawaher Boston Medical District in Sharjah. This project is a major step towards creating a top-tier healthcare destination. It aligns with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi and H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi to improve health and well-being in Sharjah.
Located in Sharjah's Al Suyoh Suburb, near the Sharjah Mosque and Emirates Road, the district will house a 266-bed hospital. It will offer advanced services like women’s health, oncology, and paediatrics. BEEAH aims to extend care beyond traditional settings with virtual and home-based solutions.

The design by RPBW features a solar-panel canopy that provides shade and clean energy, creating a cooler microclimate around the hospital. This innovative approach allows the facility to achieve net-zero energy status. The surrounding landscape includes thousands of native trees, promoting healing in harmony with nature.
Renzo Piano Building Workshop is renowned for projects like The Shard in London and the Whitney Museum in New York. This marks their first venture into the MENA region, drawing from their experience with healthcare facilities such as Uganda’s Children’s Surgical Hospital.
BEEAH collaborates with Mass General Brigham and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute from Boston for this project. These institutions provide guidance on developing a patient-centered health system focused on future needs.
Khaled Al Huraimel, Group CEO and Vice Chairman of BEEAH, expressed confidence in RPBW's involvement: "With Renzo Piano as our architect, we are confident that the Jawaher Boston Medical District will set a new benchmark for healthcare excellence in the region."
Vision for Future Healthcare
Antoine Chaaya from RPBW shared his excitement about designing this landmark project: "We aim to create a new model for the hospital of the future, providing a healing and sustainable environment that combines cutting-edge medical technology with human-centred design."
Renzo Piano highlighted hospitals' role as sanctuaries where healing begins: "Hospitals are sanctuaries where healing begins and hope is restored, embodying compassion and medical innovation." He emphasised their impact on human connection and advanced science.
This development reflects BEEAH's commitment to enhancing life quality through sustainability, technology, and people-centric approaches. The Jawaher Boston Medical District represents this mission by integrating future technologies for seamless patient care delivery.
