Beat Diabetes and Taaleem Partner to Boost Health Education in UAE Elementary Schools

In a significant move towards enhancing health education in the UAE, Landmark Group has joined forces with Emirates Schools Establishments (Taaleem) to introduce the "Superkidz" health education programme across public elementary schools in the country. This initiative is part of the broader annual Beat Diabetes campaign, which recently celebrated its 14th year with a large-scale event at Za’abeel Park, Dubai, drawing over 15,000 participants.

The Beat Diabetes walk, themed "Step Into a Healthier Tomorrow", aimed to unite families in a day of diverse activities promoting physical activity for all ages. The event featured a 2-kilometre walk, various fitness and sports activities, educational engagements, and entertainment tailored for families and children. A highlight of the day was the health zone organized by Aster DM Healthcare, offering advanced blood glucose testing free of charge to attendees. Additionally, a special area dedicated to children under 12 saw over 2,000 young participants, marking a step towards instilling a culture of health from an early age.

Health Education Boost in UAE Schools

The walk was officially inaugurated by Renuka Jagtiani, Chairwoman of Landmark Group, alongside notable figures such as Saeed Mohammed Hareb, Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council; Dr. Abdulkareem AlOlama, CEO – Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives; and Sawsan Al Amiri, Head of Health Education Section at Emirates Schools Establishments (Taaleem). These initiatives align with the social objectives of Dubai’s D33 Agenda, focusing on health, well-being, and social welfare for the city’s residents.

The partnership between Landmark Group and Taaleem for the "Superkidz" programme signifies a proactive approach to health education in the UAE. By integrating this programme into public elementary schools, the initiative aims to foster a generational shift towards healthier living habits among children. This collaboration underscores the commitment of both organizations to contribute positively to the community's health and well-being.

As the Beat Diabetes initiative continues to grow each year, its impact on promoting healthy lifestyles across the UAE is undeniable. Through events like the annual walk and educational programmes like "Superkidz", Landmark Group and Taaleem are setting a precedent for how public-private partnerships can effectively address critical societal issues such as health education and diabetes prevention.
