Dubai's Latest Parking Solution: The 'Barrierless' Experience At Mall Of The Emirates And City Centre Deira
Dubai's Mall of the Emirates and City Centre Deira have revolutionized their parking systems by adopting a 'barrierless' approach, enhancing the ease of entry and exit for their visitors. This innovative parking solution, which is already operational at City Centre Deira, is part of a broader initiative announced in October 2024 by Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) Properties in collaboration with Parkin PJSC. The objective is to also include City Centre Mirdif in this upgrade, aiming for a more streamlined parking experience across these popular shopping destinations.
The 'barrierless' parking system employs automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology to monitor the duration a vehicle remains parked. Cameras strategically placed at mall entrances capture and record the vehicle's license plate upon arrival. Should a vehicle stay beyond the complimentary parking period, the system alerts the vehicle's owner via a message to their linked mobile number, outlining any incurred charges.
Understanding the 'Barrierless' Parking Fees
Despite the introduction of the 'barrierless' parking system, parking fees at Mall of the Emirates and City Centre Deira remain consistent with previous rates. For instance, Mall of the Emirates offers free parking for up to four hours, with escalating charges thereafter, peaking at Dh200 for overnight parking between 2 am and 6 am.
On weekends, parking is complimentary for the entire day. Similarly, City Centre Deira allows free parking up to three hours, with fees increasing for longer durations and reaching Dh350 for overnight stays. City Centre Mirdif continues to provide free parking to all visitors.
To further enhance customer convenience, both malls offer parking validation for those who shop within their premises. By validating their parking at designated customer service desks, shoppers can avail of extended parking without additional charges. The adjusted fees are then communicated to the registered vehicle's contact number, simplifying the payment process.

Efficient Payment Method
Settling parking fees has been made effortless with the Parkin app and website, which accept a variety of payment methods including Apple Pay, credit cards, and WhatsApp payments in collaboration with Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). This flexibility ensures that visitors can easily manage their parking charges after leaving the mall.
For those who inadvertently exceed their parking duration, MAF provides a grace period of five days to settle any dues. Should payments be delayed, reminders are dispatched via SMS and phone calls, with a Dh150 fine imposed if the delay extends beyond three days. Additionally, strict fines are enforced for misuse of parking spaces designated for People of Determination, emphasizing the importance of adhering to parking regulations.
Visitors disputing the accuracy of issued fines can address their concerns through the Parkin platform, ensuring a fair and transparent process for resolving parking-related issues.
