Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club And Sharjah Self-Defence Triumph At Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship
The Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship's second edition concluded at Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi. Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club triumphed in the Gi category, while Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club secured the No-Gi title. This three-day event saw over 2,500 athletes from various divisions, highlighting its status as a key sporting event in the UAE.
Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, praised the championship for its excellence in sports and organisation. He stated, "What has been achieved over eight rounds reflects the clear vision and the limitless support of our wise leadership for the sports sector, as well as the tremendous efforts of clubs and academies to elevate the level of jiu-jitsu in the UAE."

Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club was awarded Best Academy – Gi (Season 2025), with Al Jazira and Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Clubs following in second and third places respectively. In No-Gi, Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club took first place, while Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club and M.O.D UAE secured second and third positions.
The final day featured thrilling matches in the Under-12 and Kids divisions. This season was notable for technical skill and increased participation from clubs nationwide. The championship has become a national platform for nurturing future champions and enhancing the UAE's leadership in jiu-jitsu.
Prominent figures attended, including Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Abu Dhabi's Department of Culture and Tourism; Humaid Obaid Abushibs, President of the UAE Accountability Authority; Sara Awadh Musallam, Chairperson of ADEK; Mubarak Hamad Al Mheiri, ADEK's Undersecretary; Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, AD Ports Group CEO; Dr Ali Bin Tamim, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre; Dr Thani Al Kuwari, Vice President of Olympic Council of Asia; Husain Al Musallam, Director General of Olympic Council of Asia; Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary-General of Abu Dhabi Sports Council; Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan, Chairman of Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club Board.
The championship honoured its partners and sponsors during the closing ceremony. Their ongoing support significantly contributed to the event's success on a national scale. The collaboration between these entities was crucial in elevating this competition to new heights.
This year's championship not only showcased exceptional talent but also reinforced community engagement through sport. It stands as a testament to the dedication within the UAE to promote jiu-jitsu at both grassroots and professional levels.
