Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club Tops Medal Standings At Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Championship Opening Day
The Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship (Gi) commenced its third round at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi. The event attracted numerous athletes from different age categories. Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club led the medal tally, followed by M.O.D UAE and Al Jazira Jiu-Jitsu Club in second and third places, respectively.
The championship is a key fixture in the UAE's jiu-jitsu calendar, drawing a large crowd on its opening day. It featured youth, adult, and master categories, offering a blend of excitement and experience. This setup allowed athletes to enhance their skills by competing with some of the sport's top talents.

Several notable figures attended the event, including Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Alhashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation; Dr. Rashed Alsuwaidi from Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre; Ahmed Abdullah Al Qubaisi from Abu Dhabi Sports Council; and other board members of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation. Their presence underscored the championship's importance.
Yousef Abdullah Al Batran remarked on the championship's growth, stating, "The championship is witnessing continuous development with each round, both in terms of technical performance, participation, and audience engagement. These successes reflect the significant support jiu-jitsu enjoys in the UAE and the Federation’s commitment to promoting a culture of sport within the community."
The event aims to spread sporting values while enhancing cultural diversity and community cohesion through positive competition. Dr. Rashed Alsuwaidi highlighted this by saying, "The Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship embodies an inspiring model of integration between sports, health, and community development."
Ahmed Abdullah Al Qubaisi added that the championship exemplifies organisational excellence and reflects jiu-jitsu's progress locally and internationally. He noted that it raises awareness about the sport’s significance among younger generations.
Athletes' Achievements
Abdullah Albaloushi from M.O.D UAE secured gold in the Men Adults / Master / Brown / -77kg category. He expressed his satisfaction: "Winning this gold medal shows the result of constant training. The Masters category brings together athletes who are ambitious, experienced, and disciplined."
The championship continues with Under-14 and Under-16 matches scheduled for Saturday. It will conclude on Sunday with competitions for Under-12 participants.
