Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club Takes Lead On Opening Day Of Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Championship In Fujairah

The Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship's sixth round began at Fujairah's Zayed Sports Complex. The event attracted a large audience and featured top athletes from local clubs and academies. The opening day focused on youth, adults, and masters divisions, showcasing intense matches as the championship nears its conclusion, where every point is vital for determining the overall winner.

The first day's results saw Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club leading the standings, followed by M.O.D UAE in second place, and Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club in third. This reflects the fierce competition among clubs aiming to secure the top position in the remaining rounds.

Ali Qaddour Al Yamahi, Branch Manager at Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank in Fujairah, expressed satisfaction with the high level of organisation and participation. He noted the impressive skills displayed by athletes in front of an enthusiastic crowd. "We are pleased to witness such a high level of organisation and the strong participation of clubs and academies in the championship," he said.

Baniyas Leads Khaled bin Mohamed Championship Day One

Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, highlighted the championship's momentum with over 1,600 athletes participating. "The sixth round embodies the strong momentum the championship enjoys," he stated. This indicates its prestigious status as a significant tournament on the local sporting scene.

Rashed Al Shehhi from Al Wahda Club won gold in the men's 56 kg category. He shared his pride in achieving this accomplishment: "I am proud to achieve this accomplishment and win gold in a championship that carries a name dear to everyone." His previous silver win motivated him to train intensively for this success.

Haneen Al Khoori of Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club also secured gold in the women's youth 57 kg category. She expressed her pride: "I am extremely proud to win the gold medal in this important championship." Her victory motivates her to enhance her skills for future competitions.

The event drew significant family attendance, creating a supportive atmosphere for participants. Al Batran noted that this family presence adds a social dimension to jiu-jitsu beyond competition.
