Bain & Company Collaborates With WGS To Launch AI-Powered Sustainability Readiness Tool For Organisations
Bain & Company, together with the World Governments Summit (WGS), has introduced the Sustainability Readiness Tool. This AI-driven solution is crafted to assist organisations in evaluating and improving their sustainability efforts. The tool draws from Bain's research, including insights from last year's LEAD report, which explored how businesses in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) are incorporating sustainability into their operations.
According to Bain’s findings, about 70% of MENA organisations claim to integrate sustainability into their business models. However, only 3% are on track to meet their sustainability objectives. This highlights a significant gap that requires actionable insights and strategic interventions, which the new tool aims to address. "The Sustainability Readiness Tool provides organisations with a structured approach to assess their sustainability readiness and align with global best practices," stated Samer Bohsali, Senior Partner at Bain & Company.

The AI-powered assessment tool consists of 27 questions designed to help organisations evaluate their sustainability readiness. Users receive a benchmarking analysis, enabling them to compare their performance against industry leaders. Following this, the tool generates a comprehensive report with actionable recommendations for enhancing sustainability integration across business operations.
One notable feature of the Sustainability Readiness Tool is its strategic benchmarking framework. It allows organisations to measure themselves against industry leaders setting the standard for sustainability. The tool offers deep insights into best practices, innovation drivers, and emerging trends within top-performing companies like Emirates NBD and Acwa Power.
Bain’s extensive research identifies four key aspects that distinguish leading organisations in sustainability through its LEAD Framework: linking sustainability ambitions to corporate strategies; engaging cross-functional teams; activating achievable missions; and driving innovation while scaling sustainable solutions rapidly.
The LEAD Framework emphasises integrating sustainability into core business strategies alongside other corporate targets. It encourages cross-functional collaboration by removing boundaries and fostering organisation-wide ownership for sustainable outcomes. Additionally, it supports developing skills and structures necessary for achieving these goals.
Benchmarking Against Industry Leaders
The benchmarking functionality serves as a powerful decision-making tool. It enables businesses to transform sustainability from a compliance-driven obligation into a strategic growth enabler. By adopting proven best practices and innovations that drive long-term value, companies can enhance their competitive positioning.
Analysing how leading organisations incorporate sustainability into their core business models allows companies to identify gaps in their approaches. This analysis helps prioritise high-impact initiatives aligned with global benchmarks and regulatory expectations.
Driving Innovation and Stakeholder Confidence
The tool goes beyond simple comparisons by offering insights into best practices within top-performing companies such as Fakhruddin Holdings and Taqa. Leveraging data-driven insights helps build stakeholder confidence, improve ESG ratings, and attract investors focused on sustainability.
"The launch of The Sustainability Readiness Tool represents a significant step forward in helping businesses navigate the complexities of sustainability transformation," said Wissam Yassine, Partner at Bain & Company Middle East.
As governments and businesses worldwide prioritise sustainability, this tool offers practical solutions for moving from intent to impact. By leveraging AI-driven insights alongside Bain’s expertise, companies can accelerate their journey towards aligning more effectively with global goals.
The Sustainability Readiness Tool is now accessible for organisations aiming to assess and advance their strategies in this area.
