Bahrain Named Top Wedding Destination At World Travel Awards 2024

The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) proudly announced Bahrain's significant success at the 31st World Travel Awards (WTA) ceremony, capturing two prestigious accolades. The Kingdom of Bahrain was celebrated as the "Middle East's Leading Wedding Destination 2024," a testament to its growing appeal as a prime location for luxurious weddings and bridal events. Additionally, Exhibition World Bahrain (EWB) was awarded the "Middle East's Leading Large-Scale Wedding Venue 2024," standing out among four notable competitors in the region.

The awards were received by Mrs. Sara Ahmed Buhiji, CEO of BTEA, during the gala ceremony at Burj Al Arab in Dubai, UAE, on May 6, 2024, aligning with the Arabian Travel Market 2024. These wins underscore Bahrain's exceptional tourism offerings and EWB's outstanding capabilities in hosting grand-scale events, cementing their reputations in their respective categories.

Bahrain's recognition as the leading wedding destination in the Middle East reflects its diverse and rich tourism offerings, from its heritage sites and first-rate hotels to luxury hospitality and pristine beaches. This award highlights the Kingdom's ability to host magnificent celebrations, drawing families and couples worldwide for their most significant ceremonies. Mrs. Sara Ahmed Buhiji expressed immense pride in this international acknowledgment, which represents Bahrain's emerging status as a favored destination for luxurious weddings.

Exhibition World Bahrain's Continued Excellence

Following its previous success as the "World's Leading New Exhibition and Convention Centre 2023," EWB's latest accolade at the WTA reinforces its leading position in the MICE industry globally. With state-of-the-art facilities and innovative services, EWB attracts a wide range of events and visitors, enhancing its industry reputation.

Mrs. Sara Ahmed Buhiji emphasized the international recognition of EWB's dedication and passion as a driving force for striving towards excellence in the MICE industry and tourism sector. The commitment to hosting prestigious international events and large-scale weddings remains strong, with ambitions to reach even greater heights.

Contributing to Renewable Energy Initiatives

EWB is also making significant contributions to Bahrain's renewable energy initiatives by installing solar panels with the capability to generate 14.6 megawatts from rooftop installations. This move aligns with the Kingdom's commitment to sustainable practices and environmental conservation, showcasing the dedication to adopting renewable energy sources.

Attracting Tourism Investments

Bahrain's successful efforts in attracting tourism investments are evident through initiatives like the Golden License program, which has already attracted nine projects with a combined investment value of 2.4 billion US dollars. Among these, two significant tourism projects are set to greatly contribute to sustainable tourism development and quality employment opportunities. This underscores the effective collaboration between the public and private sectors in diversifying and enhancing the Kingdom's tourism offerings.

The achievements at the 31st World Travel Awards ceremony not only celebrate Bahrain's and EWB's current successes but also set a positive trajectory for the future of tourism and event hosting in the Kingdom, reinforcing its position on the international stage.
