Azerbaijan's President Aliyev Receives FNC Speaker Saqr Ghobash To Strengthen Bilateral Relations
President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan met with Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) of the UAE, in Baku. Ghobash was visiting to participate in the International Parliamentary Conference marking the 30th anniversary of Azerbaijan's Constitution. President Aliyev expressed gratitude for the UAE's involvement and highlighted the strong, growing ties between the two nations.
Aliyev emphasised that the relationship between Azerbaijan and the UAE is a model of successful cooperation based on mutual trust and shared interests. He reiterated his country's commitment to enhancing collaboration in political, economic, cultural, and scientific areas. Ghobash conveyed greetings from UAE leaders, including President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Ghobash praised Aliyev’s leadership in promoting Azerbaijan’s sustainable development and its role as a regional model of stability and tolerance. He noted that relations between the UAE and Azerbaijan are rapidly advancing due to shared visions from both countries' leaderships. The UAE considers Azerbaijan a strategic partner in the region.
The meeting also focused on parliamentary cooperation between the FNC and Azerbaijan's National Assembly as a vital channel for strengthening bilateral relations. Ghobash mentioned President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's official visit to Azerbaijan in September 2025, where a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership was announced.
This partnership is seen as a significant milestone that opens new opportunities for collaboration across various sectors. Both parties discussed potential joint efforts in parliamentary, investment, scientific, and cultural fields. They stressed the importance of continued coordination at regional and international forums to promote peace and sustainable development.
Energy cooperation was another key topic during their discussions. The UAE supports Azerbaijan's initiatives to advance green energy and transition to sustainable energy sources, aligning with their mutual commitment to sustainable development goals.
Mutual Greetings Exchanged
President Aliyev reciprocated greetings to UAE leaders, wishing further success for their government and people. The meeting underscored the importance of maintaining strong diplomatic ties between both nations. Mohammed Murad Alblooshi, UAE Ambassador to Azerbaijan, along with senior officials attended this significant meeting.
The discussions highlighted how both countries are keen on fostering stronger ties through various collaborative efforts. This reflects their dedication to achieving common goals while respecting each other's sovereignty and interests.
