Awqaf Abu Dhabi Launches Life Endowment Campaign To Support Patients With Chronic Diseases
The Endowments and Minors Funds Authority (Awqaf Abu Dhabi) and the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi have introduced the Life Endowment campaign. This initiative, under the slogan "With you for Life," aims to support patients with chronic diseases. It aligns with the Year of Community, initiated by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, promoting generosity and solidarity.
The campaign's primary goal is to ensure sustainable healthcare services for society's most vulnerable. By establishing an endowment, it seeks to fund treatment costs and provide essential medications and mental health support. This effort is part of a broader Healthcare Endowment launched in May 2024, valued at AED1 billion.

Fahad Abdulqader Al Qassim, Director-General of Awqaf Abu Dhabi, highlighted the importance of endowments in community development. He stated that these contributions will be managed through investments to preserve their value and ensure resource sustainability. "We will oversee the management of these contributions by investing them, preserving their value, and ensuring the sustainability of their resources to empower the growth of our initiatives and maximise their social impact," he said.
The campaign also focuses on promoting the values of endowment and reinforcing waqf as a tool for sustainability. It underscores the UAE’s leadership in charitable campaigns and social investments aimed at aiding those in need. The initiative aims to enhance public health by investing funds raised to improve healthcare programmes.
The campaign has partnered with Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) and the Authority of Social Contribution - Ma’an. ERC Secretary-General Ahmed Sari Al Mazrouei expressed that their collaboration stems from a belief in sustainable community funding for healthcare. "Emirates Crescent’s partnership with the Life Endowment campaign to support chronic disease patients stems from the organisation's strong belief in the necessity of sustainable community funding for the healthcare sector," he stated.
Abdullah Hamid Al Ameri, Director-General of Ma’an, emphasised fostering shared responsibility among community members through this partnership. He noted that Ma’an channels contributions towards initiatives addressing social priorities in Abu Dhabi's health sector.
Ensuring Effective Healthcare Delivery
Dr. Noura Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, remarked on how this campaign provides a sustainable model for care delivery. "This initiative supports our ongoing efforts to enhance quality of life and ensure access to specialised, integrated, and effective healthcare that places patients at the heart of the system," she said.
The Department will continue overseeing health-related aspects to ensure contributions effectively support specialised care for those most in need. The campaign aims to strengthen healthcare systems by providing continuous funding for chronic disease treatments.
