Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese Visits Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque In Abu Dhabi
Anthony Albanese, the Prime Minister of Australia, recently toured the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi with his partner Jodie Haydon. They were joined by Fahad Obaid Al Taffaq, UAE Ambassador to Australia, Ridwan Joudat, Australian Ambassador to the UAE, and senior members of the Australian delegation.
Dr. Yousif Al Obaidli, Director-General of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, guided the group through the mosque’s vast halls and courtyards. He shared insights into its history and significance as a cultural landmark that embodies coexistence, tolerance, and openness. These values are rooted in the vision of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

The mosque's mission is to convey Islamic culture's essence and promote dialogue among nations. Dr. Al Obaidli emphasised this during the tour. The centre aims to foster understanding and appreciation for Islamic heritage worldwide.
Cultural tour specialist Rawda Al Marzouqi provided an in-depth look at the mosque’s artistic and architectural magnificence. He explained how Islamic civilisations over centuries influenced its design. The mosque combines various traditions into one architectural masterpiece, showcasing cultural exchange's harmony and creativity.
The delegation also visited the mausoleum of Sheikh Zayed. They reflected on his wisdom and vision for peace that continues to influence UAE’s culture of tolerance and coexistence today.
A special gift was presented to Anthony Albanese during his visit. It included a compass inspired by the mosque’s chandeliers' design and a copy of "Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque: Lights of Peace." This publication highlights the mosque’s unique architectural style with award-winning photographs from the "Spaces of Light" competition.
