AURAK Successfully Hosts The 16th Asian Conference On Intelligent Information And Database Systems
The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) recently became the pioneering host in the UAE for the 16th Asian Conference on Intelligent Information and Database Systems (ACIIDS), a significant event that brought together a global community of experts to discuss advancements in AI and ML technologies. This hybrid conference, which took place from April 15th to 17th, welcomed 150 delegates from 43 different countries, showcasing the international appeal and significance of the event.
Over the course of three days, 120 papers were presented, turning the conference into a prestigious international forum for scientific research in the technologies and applications of intelligent information and database systems. The conference covered a wide range of crucial topics including AI in Computer Analysis, AI in Social Networks, Machine Learning Algorithms, Generative & Natural Language Processing Models, Cyber Science in Digital Transformation, AI-driven Medical Analysis, and Data Modelling & Smart Information Systems.

Professor Stephen Wilhite, Provost at AURAK, emphasized the importance of hosting such an intellectually stimulating event, highlighting its role in fostering critical analysis and interpretation among participants. Dr. Khouloud Salameh, Chair of Computer Science and Engineering Department at AURAK, also noted the conference's role as a stimulating platform for sharing groundbreaking research and fostering collaboration.
Professor Ngoc Thanh Nguyen, Chair of the ACIIDS Conference from Wroclaw University of Science and Technology in Poland, expressed honor in partnering with AURAK for hosting ACIIDS 2024 in Ras Al-Khaimah. He anticipated that the conference would bring forth new research results and networking opportunities for all attendees.
The conference was a collaborative effort between Wrocław University of Science and Technology, the French Chapter of the Special Interest Group on Applied Computing (SIGAPP), and AURAK. Keynote speakers such as Prof. Schahram Dustdar, Prof. Leszek Rutkowski, Prof. David Camacho, and Prof. Michalis Vazirgiannis addressed various innovative topics ranging from Distributed Intelligence in Computing to Utilising Machine Learning for countering disinformation on online social networks.
Awards were presented for outstanding contributions during the conference. The Best Regular Paper Award was secured by Ravil Mussabayev and Rustam Mussabayev of Kazakhstan for their work on 'Superior Parallel Big Data Clustering through Competitive Stochastic Sample Size Optimisation in Big-means.' The Best Student Paper Award was given to Hoang-Loc La, Ngoc Nha Vi Tran, Hung Manh La, and Phuong Hoai Ha for 'Interpretable Fuzzy Embedded Neural Network for Multivariate Time-Series Forecasting'. Additionally, Urszula Boryczka and Rafał Skinderowicz from Poland received the Best Special Session Award for 'MLA - Machine Learning Algorithms in Theory and Practice.'
The proceedings from ACIIDS 2024 will be published by Springer, highlighting the event's contribution to the scientific community and ensuring that the insights shared during this conference are accessible to a wider audience. This event not only served as a platform for presenting current research but also as an opportunity for professionals from across the globe to connect and discuss future innovations in AI and ML technologies.
